In March at the equinox, The Society turns away from the domestic affairs of a faltering imperium to give attention to the unconquerable empire of the imagination. Much has happened in the interim.

Not satisfied by entertaining the European leadership with a giggling selfie at Mandela's funeral, The Historic President chewed bubble gum as the French President intoned a stately address commemorating D-Day and the liberation of Europe. According to the French Press, the French President brought the wizened veterans of the Allied nations who turned out to tears with an impressive oration while they laughed at the Historic President.

As good as the Historic President is at comic relief, he doesn't seem to be too good at funerals. When the top US General in Afghanistan was assassinated by an Afghani ally, the Historic President skipped the service. He needed to play golf.

With approval ratings at home faltering in the face of continuing economic malaise, requests for massive hand-outs from Insurance executives to fund Wo-Bama care, double books kept at the VA, a tidal wave of immigrants resettled in the US at public expense, IRS attacks on Republican businesses, Militarization of Police Forces and a reign of police violence, The Historic President needed a little entertainment on the International scene to distract the domestic rubes` attention from miserable failures at home. His target was the Ukraine where Viktor Yanukovich a Russian ethnic President sought to rekindle ties with the Rodina, Mother Russia.

In the wake of a CIA engineered coup against Viktor Yanukovich, the duly elected President of Ukrainia, Crimea seceded and joined the Russian Federation. Civil war broke out between the Russian population and the new US installed government. A Malaysian Airlines plane bound for Singapore was shot down over the war zone in Ukrainia. Both the Russian Federation and the US have accused each other of authoring the tragedy.

The more likely culprit is the Historic President who needs to ferment trouble to attain some kind of national unity inside the US.

Jesse Jackson said that many white Americans are rooting against the Historic President and several Southern and Western States are ready to hoist the Stars and Bars.

It would be difficult for Vladimir Putin to yield to the Historic President. What is happening is that the EU is pushing East while Russia is trying to recover lost territories.

Ukrainia is a fiction created by Stalin when he annexed Polish territories to the Soviet Union after Russia's invasion of Poland in 1939. What the US calls Western Ukraine is really Polish; Eastern Ukraine is Russian. Their language is similar but their orientation is different. So called Western Ukraine looks to Rome and Paris; Easter Ukraine looks to Moscow. Kiev, the capital of Ukrania is the mother city of Russia where the Rus Prince married the daughter of the last Byzantine (Eastern Roman) Emperor.

To the so-called Western Ukrainian, WWII is a great tragedy, having been sold by Germany to Stalin and then invaded. To the Russian it is The Great Patriotic War, in which Russian which sought above all things peace with its neighbors was stabbed in the back at 3:15AM 22 June 1941 when German troops crossed the Bug River.

A confrontation between Putin and the Historic President is not merely a case of Men vs Lice that can be papered over by blandishments but the Russian distrust of The West and Western treaties of peace is strongly ingrained and the fear of a replay of June 1941 is deep rooted. If Putin backs down, he'd likely be overthrown.

Meanwhile in the Middle East, Israel and the Palestinians were at it again trading bombs. Israeli casualties were typically light; Palestinian losses were catastrophic.

In Syria the US supported Syrian rebels fighting the regime of Bashar Al-assar metamorphosed into ISIS, the Islamic State of Syria, Irak and the Levant. ISIL or ISIS as it is sometimes called invaded Irak. Quisling Iraki forces fled without firing a shot. The US replaced its Quisling PM Maliki with some other inconsequential Quisling and resumed bombing. The typical great victories have been declared.

In the midst of tragedy there is humour. With the tidal wave of immigrants crossing the border at public expense, the civil war of the Mexican drug lords spilling into the US, and the Mexican Army conducting operations inside the US, Rep Nancy Pelosi attacked Rep Tom Marino on the House Floor as Marino bemoaned the breakdown of law and order on the border. Scenes like this have not been seen on the House floor since before the US civil war.
